BEYONCE SINGS A PRINCE-INSPIRED TRIBUTE TO NICKI MINAJ LIVE ON STAGE
Is there anything sweeter than mega-celeb BFFs? Two of those BFFs — rap queen Nicki Minaj and Queen Bey — celebrated Jay Z’s music-streaming service Tidal reaching 1 million subscribers last week at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The event featured performances from Bey, Minaj, T.I., Usher, Nick Jonas, Lil Wayne, and others.
The concert saw Beyoncé and Minaj perform their 2014 masturbation empowerment anthem “Feeling Myself,” and, after the show, rehearsal footage emerged of the divas goofing around with a modified version of Prince’s 1984 masturbation anthem, “Darling Nikki.” In it, Bey sings, “I met this girl named Nicki / I guess you can say she was the rap queen / I met her in the studio lobby but her booty looked bigger in the magazines / She said ‘B, would you jump on this song of mine?’ / How could I resist when I heard little Nicki rhyme.”
